What is Organic Traffic? Learn to Increase Organic Traffic & Save Money
LocaliQ recently released their 2023 Google Ads Industry Benchmarks, which confirmed what many in the marketing world have noticed: cost per lead is increasing while conversion rates are decreasing. So, what does this mean?
First, let’s break down the terminology for a refresher:
- Cost per lead – the amount of money it takes in a marketing campaign to generate prospective customers
- Conversion rate – the percentage of leads that become customers
Overall, 21 of the 23 industries LocaliQ examined saw a cost-per-lead increase of nearly 21% in the past year, reflecting record inflation and our economy’s state. 91% of industries saw a decrease in conversion rate. They concluded that customers are taking longer to make buying decisions with current economic conditions.
With all of this in mind, turning to low-cost means of getting your brand in front of prospective customers is more important than ever. Today, we will explain how you can save money in your marketing efforts with organic traffic and how to write your content to appeal to Google’s algorithm.
What is organic traffic?
Organic traffic refers to the visitors that come to your website through unpaid search engine results. Essentially, they find your website naturally by searching for relevant keywords or phrases.
Unlike paid traffic, which involves advertising and bidding for ad placements, a search engine’s algorithm and the relevance and quality of your website’s content drives organic traffic. With paid advertising campaigns becoming more expensive and less effective, exploring alternative, cost-effective strategies like organic traffic is essential.
So, how do you capitalize on organic traffic?
What is SEO?
We briefly covered Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and organic traffic in our last blog post about marketing growth hacks to save money and succeed. Let’s dive a little deeper.
SEO is a set of strategies and techniques to improve your website’s visibility and ranking in search engine result pages (SERPs). It involves optimizing various aspects of your website – content, structure, and HTML coding, making it more attractive to search engines.
There are many elements to consider when optimizing SEO; here are a few to get you started:
1. Keyword Research
Research the search terms and phrases your target audience uses to find products or services similar to yours. Identifying the most relevant keywords to incorporate into your website’s content is essential for appealing to and getting in front of your ideal customer.
2. Technical Optimization
Optimizing page load speed, mobile responsiveness, and site structure and implementing proper schema markup on individual web pages makes your website more search-engine friendly. Basically, you can learn the language of search engines – schema markup – to provide search engines with additional context and information about your content.
You can learn more about Schema Markup and technical optimization in Brand3’s “Search Engine Rankings: Getting on the Front Page of Google.”
3. Content Creation
Keyword stuffing doesn’t cut it anymore. You need to produce high-quality, valuable, and relevant content that can help attract and establish your website as a reliable source of information in your industry. Specifically, Google values double E-A-T, which stands for Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust.
Produce content that demonstrates your expertise, capitalizes on your first-hand experience, and positions you as a source of authority and trustworthiness. Think along the lines of informative blog posts, articles, and guides.
4. Link Building
Backlinks are links from external websites that point to your website – when another website includes a hyperlink that directs users to your website. They’re not equal regarding their impact on SEO because search engines assess the quality, relevance, and authority of the websites linking to yours.
By creating high-quality content, as discussed above, other websites are more likely to reference and link to it. You can also work on link-building by building relationships with other industry bloggers or website owners.
Optimizing SEO is a time-consuming but worthwhile endeavor. It may require bringing in additional help and expertise from a marketing agency. If you need assistance, we’re here to help.
Organic Traffic and Recruitment
Finding quality candidates in the home professional industry can be a crucial aspect of business growth and success. However, the LocaliQ study found that the cost per lead in career and employment has increased significantly by 52%.
In addition to these increasing costs, Google recently changed its algorithm for job postings and recruitment campaigns without giving any notice or information. When we have more details, we’ll post about it.
This change will likely affect paid search and organic visibility in job-related searches, so you must adapt your recruitment strategies to account for them. While we wait on more information from Google, you can apply SEO to your recruitment strategies to optimize your job postings and career-related content.
