You’ve probably seen different methods of jobsite marketing around your neighborhood, in local areas, or even around town depending on what industry the business is in. When done correctly, jobsite marketing is effective because your brand is clearly visible. Regardless of which methods you choose, having your logo, branding, and contact information are in clear sight and easily visible to anyone who comes into contact with the tool of choice. Whether that be through your vehicles outside of the home, a yard sign, a door hanger, or even a letter, any form will allow the chance for brand awareness to spread between those in the neighborhood or anyone local and nearby.
Good Jobsite Marketing Tools
Some of the most common ways we see jobsite marketing happen are from door hangers, postcards, or yard signs. These are all great tools to use as long as you’re intentional with the messaging. Other ideas include a custom letter that lets neighbors know there may be a little more noise or traffic due to the new project going on next door, or even a card with your information and promotion exclusively for neighbors nearby. Your vehicles are also a great way to jobsite market. Assuming they are wrapped with your branding and parked out front of the site, people passing by will constantly see your brand front and center.
Although all of these tools work great, the most important element in a jobsite marketing campaign is the yard sign. You want a high-quality yard sign and not something that can easily break, bend, or fly away due to a storm. We recommend a tall and sturdy sign that can be placed in the ground without easily budging. The sign should also have your brand nice and big, be clear about what you’re doing on the site (building a new deck, transforming a backyard, installing a new pool, etc,) and always have your website address listed – assuming it is short enough to fit comfortably on the sign. You don’t want too many words crowding the space and making it hard to read as people pass by.

The key factor to successful jobsite marketing is location. Choosing areas or neighborhoods where there is just the right amount of road traffic is ideal. If the home is tucked away in a court or private driveway, this may not be a helpful tool. However, if there are typically cars driving past the site each day, this is probably a good place to market.
You want to invest in good jobsite marketing in neighborhoods where your ideal customer already lives. So, if you have a really strong neighborhood of houses with similarities, you’ll want great jobsite marketing to potentially gain new customers with the same needs. For example, if you’re a plumber installing new plumbing in an older home within an older neighborhood, chances are there will be other homes that also need updated plumbing. You’ll want to invest in these areas rather than neighborhoods with newly built houses with brand new plumbing systems. The same example could be given for landscapers. Landscapers are typically interested in property size and want to work with homes that have space to build swimming pools or can house large landscaping and hardscaping projects. They will want to invest in jobsite marketing where homes follow a similar suit. Overall, your ideal customer will usually live in your ideal neighborhood where there are other people who could use your services.
Lastly and most importantly, with any marketing initiative, you must have the right number of touches (also known as frequency) to get a response. Typically it is a multiple of 4 to 6 times and in the case of job site marketing can start the day you arrive and continue for the duration of the project or until the customer wants the sign to come down.
